India Employment in Public and Organized Private Sectors
India has very low ratio of govt. employees to population in the world. There are many reasons for it:-
1.Govt. did not realize to increase the workforce of the govt. official in proportion to the growing population
2.Delay in filling the vacancies in the various departments
3.Lack of political will to implement 2nd administrative reforms committees recommendation
Govt. should increase the qualitatively and quantitatively.
The points in the favoring of this
1.Mostly govt. departments are lesser strength of officials to handle the public. They are not able to discharge their duties properly due to overburdened.
2.Shortage of teachers, doctors, judges and higher officials which leads to inefficiency in the system.
3.Sufficient workforce will help in improving the efficiency and accountability in the administration.
4. better policing, good teachers, good doctors, good judges etc are needed urgently for quality service delivery.
Points against it:-
- 1.Salary hike result in financial burden to the govt. & salary in the lower level is already descent enough in comparison to the private sector.
- 2.The increase in work force does not guarantee that the administration would be efficient. Rather more focus should be on bringing transparency, accountability and responsibility in the present govt. official.
- 3.Corruption is the main concern in the govt. department ranging from clearance, license to contract etc.

So govt. should increase the work force of the govt. official but bring more efficiency, accountability and responsibility in them is also important. Citizen charter, Lok pal bill and Grievances redressal mechanism are to be ensure in the various department. The vacancy in various department must be filled soon.
